Biography
Karlene Urlich – founder of Booost Potential Ltd – I have been in the industry for 17 years! And been with my husband for 14 years! I am so passionate about the Fitness Industry; this is why I’m still in this great industry. I have helped so many people in their health and wellbeing and am thoroughly grateful for having the opportunity to make a difference.
Here is a little picture of my journey in the industry. I have had great experience in a wide variety of duties and roles including:
1. Fitness Instructor 2. Aquarobics Instructor 3. Aerobics Instructor 4. Circuit/Boxing Instructor 5. Membership Sales 6. Gym Supervisor 7. Health & Fitness Club Manager – Millennium Institute of Sport & Health 8. Personal/Group Trainer 9. Mentor - Personal Trainers 10. Wellness Coaching
During these 17 years I have experienced a few “burn-outs”! The beginning of my journey was all about learning and doing as much as I could. It was all about gaining experience and I really enjoyed teaching classes. I was young, lean and mean and full of excitement and enthusiasm. Unfortunately I experienced a bad knee injury which knocked me back. I could not teach classes for awhile and had to find other sources of training. With my positive attitude I then started swimming and then decided to try some triathlons. I believe if something doesn’t happen according to your schedule maybe it wasn’t meant to be at that time.
Over a period of time I was really interested in going down the management pathway. I enrolled in a variety of management courses and eventually was appointed a Management Role. This was a challenging role; during this time it heightened my awareness of behaviours and taking positive actions to get solutions and outcomes.
I had taken on so many responsibilities and thought I could do everything and anything! Unfortunately my health and wellbeing suffered, I put on 15kg over a 2 year period! It hit me one day and realised I had to get back to my passion – dealing with people one on one. With my determination and positive attitude I trained and lost 13kg and went back to what I am great at, Personal Training.
I am now training a variety of women in all aspects of their health & wellbeing; executives, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, retirees. I’m also mentoring other trainers in their Personal Training businesses and am now using my past experiences to help others in their journeys.
